Top ten pieces of today’s gossip are:
1) Champions League finalists Paris St-Germain and English giants Manchester United are in position to sign Lionel Messi. The 33-year-old Argentine forward told Barcelona he wants to leave, and even though there is a possibility he could be able to leave for free, both clubs would be willing to pay a fee. It is understood he decided to hand in a transfer request after being told “your privileges in the squad are over” by the new Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman.
2) Another player wanting to leave Barcelona is Philippe Coutinho who is believed to prefer the option of returning to the Premier League than staying with Barcelona now that his loan deal with Champions League winners Bayern Munich is coming to an end. Premier League trip Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in the former Liverpool player.
3) English striker Jamie Vardy, 33, has signed a new contract with Leicester until 2023. Since signing for the Foxes, the former FC Halifax and Fleetwood striker has scored 130 goals in 310 appearances.
4) Italian giants AC Milan want to sign Spanish midfielder Brahim Diaz, 21, on loan from Real Madrid.
5) Thiago Silva, 35, is going to have a Chelsea medical on Thursday, this is even though his old club Paris St-Germain made a late offer to the Brazilian to stay in the French capital.
6) Arsenal look like they have given up on signing £45m-rated Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid this summer.
7) Everton could sign Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez, 29, as his current boss Zinedine Zidane doesn’t see a future for him with the La Liga champions.
8) There are on-going links that Chelsea could sign free agent Malang Sarr, 21, on a five-year contract.
9) Crystal Palace have made a move in the transfer market having agreed a £14m fee for QPR midfielder Eberechi Eze after Fulham withdrew their interest.
10) Dundee United’s Scottish centre-back Lewis Neilson, 17, is being chased by Everton, Leicester City, Southampton and Leeds United. The Premier League teams have sent scouts to watch him.
