The timing of Sir Alex Ferguson’s book has not done David Moyes any favours at Manchester United.

Most of the stories in Fergie’s “My Autobiography” have made a lot of headlines this week in the media.

But it seems odd that he would want to lift the lid on things at a club where he is still employed basically.

There are a few little digs at Wayne Rooney who is now performing some of his best football under Moyes.

Some of Fergie’s comments have already appeared to upset the player which is not going to help.

Most people write a book when they leave the game because they want to make a few quid out of it whereas some people find it therapeutic to get all their thoughts down.

But I don’t see Fergie in either of those camps.

It doesn’t help either that it has come out on the back of one of United’s poorest ever starts to a new Premier League season.

Moyes is right to keep in the background and let it all this gloss over.

Sometimes the best course of action is to say absolutely nothing at all.

The farther he distances himself the better it is because he doesn’t have to get involved – there’s no point.

There is no criticism of Moyes in the book and Sir Alex does say that he thinks United can still win the Premier League title with his help.
