Bayern Munich’s master-class Champions League victory over Manchester City is a wake-up call for Premier League clubs.

It was incredible to see this happen after what City had done to Manchester United a couple of weeks ago.
Everyone was raving about Manuel Pellegrini’s team after they had beaten their neighbours 4-1 at home.
But, all of a sudden, they get an absolute football lesson in top quality football and top quality pressing of the ball from the Germans.
This must be a bit of an eye opener for a lot of the major teams in the competition I would imagine.
And it doesn’t look good for Premier League football either and is a bit of a reality check for our top clubs.
It may turn out to be a good thing in the end. It might spur our clubs on to improve their game.
Bayern have raised the bar and now Premier League teams have to lift themselves up there as well.
Let’s not forget this was a City team that had spent nearly £100 million in the summer against a German side that probably shelved out half that much I guess.
For there to be such a huge gulf between the teams on the pitch shows that sometimes money can’t buy you everything.
From what I’ve seen now it appears that the top Premier League clubs are a little behind those at the top of the Bundesliga.
It was a little bit embarrassing to see City go three goals down so quickly to a team that good.
They couldn’t get hold of the ball and it was kind of a lost cause so early in the game.
It was a bit of a kick in the teeth and they are going to have to learn from it and bounce back.
Don’t get me wrong it was never going to be easy for City against the reigning champions of Europe.
Bayern were so impressive last year and yet, from what I saw the other night, it looks as though Pep Guardiola has actually made them even better.
And that is scary!
