Thursday 19th November’s TIBS Newsbytes: Dayot Upamecano and Georginio Wijnaldum are wanted men whilst Samuel Eto’o is considering coming out of retirement

Like most days Lionel Messi is in the news and his ex-teammate Samuel Eto’o is rumoured to be coming out of retirement.

Liverpool and Manchester United are both keen on signing a new centre back and Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga could be on the move!

1) RB Leipzig’s defensive star Dayot Upamecano is wanted by Premier League duo Liverpool and Manchester United whilst Bayern Munich have distanced themselves from making a move as they cannot afford him. It is understood the 22-year-old Frenchman and his club will make a decision about his future in January.

2) Another centre-back (and Frenchman) linked with Manchester United is Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane who is believed to be available on the transfer market.

3) Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga is likely to go on loan and is understood to be open to taking a pay cut to get back playing regularly.

4) It is a battle between Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona for the signing of Liverpool’s Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

5) Barcelona’s Lionel Messi is in the news again! This time he has said that he is “tired of always being the problem” at the Nou Camp making it even more likely that he will move in January or the summer.

6) If Spanish centre-back Sergio Ramos leaves Real Madrid in the summer then Real might make a move for Bayern Munich’s Austrian defender David Alaba.

7) There is a possibility that West Ham’s Brazilian winger Felipe Anderson’s loan with Porto will be terminated if the Portuguese side can to re-sign Brazil striker Hulk.

8) Arsenal are set to sign Tunisia Under-21 defender Omar Rekik from German side Hertha Berlin in January but fans will have to wait to see him in action as he will then be loaned back to the German club immediately.

9) Paris St-Germain’s 27-year-old German midfielder Julian Draxler is wanted by Sevilla and Hertha Berlin.

10) Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o is considering a comeback at 39-years-old! He is in talks with Spanish third division club Racing de Murcia. He retired in September 2019 after an illustrious career that saw him start with Real Madrid before moving to Real Mallorca after impressing on-loan. Having scored 48 goals in 120 games he joined Barcelona where he spent five years – winning three La Liga titles as well as the Champions League twice. He then moved to Italy where he was part of Inter’s treble winning team. He also played in Russia, England and Turkey before ending his career in Qatar
