Le Tissier: “Mourinho believes Man City have the upper hand over Chelsea in title race – who is he kidding?”

Goalden Goals

I had to laugh the other day when I heard that Jose Mourinho said on TV he’d rather be in Manchester City’s position than Chelsea’s in the Premier League table.

He is trying to kid us that he’d rather have City’s three games in hand than the six-point advantage.

Jose is an absolute liar!

If he expects us to believe that he must think we are all muppets!

For me, Mourinho is trying to pull the wool over people’s eyes because we all know which situation he’d rather be in.

Chelsea were my pre-season tip to win the league although I did think a few weeks back City were going to overhaul them.

Not long ago there was talk about Manuel Pellegrini’s team doing the quadruple.

Now they might just end up with the Capital One Cup after being knocked-out of the Champions League and the FA Cup.

If they don’t go on to win the league their season will be viewed as a disappointment after all the money that has been spent there.

However, I still think the club will give Pellegrini another chance because he has the respect of the senior players and that’s a big factor.

It was a poor week for our British teams in Europe with Arsenal also going out of the Champions League.

The Gunners, too, might just end up with one piece of silverware if they win the FA Cup, which they are now favourites to do so.

You would expect them to win their semi-final with Wigan at Wembley but stranger things have happened.

Wigan beating Arsenal would be less a shock than them going to the Etihad to beat Man City.

Next week I expect Chelsea to beat Galatasary in the Champions League after their 1-1 first leg draw.

And I think Manchester United have enough fire-power to overcome their two-goal first leg deficit to Olympiakos.

I think in the context of the season this is a bigger game than Sunday’s home match with Liverpool.

I know United are still aiming for a top four place in the league but that’s a big ask now.

Realistically, they are 14 points adrift of second and third placed Liverpool and Arsenal and 12 behind City.

That’s why coming from behind to beat the Greek club to remain in Europe is, to me, a far more important game.
