Milan friendly abandoned

A friendly match between AC Milan fourth tier side Pro Patria has been abandoned after 26 minutes following the Serie A side’s players being racially abused.

Some of Pro Patria’s fans were abusing Kevin-Prince Boateng, who reacted angrily, picked the ball up and kicked it towards the crowd.

The referee asked Boateng to leave the pitch but instead Milan’s captain Massimo Ambrosini took his whole team off the pitch.

After the game AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri told La Gazetta dello Sport, “I hope that [our actions] will be followed if it were to happen in official games from the amateur championships to Serie A.”

He continued to say, “And I’m sorry for the families and children who had come here to enjoy a beautiful day.”

It was not only the Ghana player who targeted but also Urby Emanuelson, M’Baye Niang and Sulley Muntari.

Captain Ambrosini said, “We were annoyed from the beginning. We wanted to give a strong signal. We could not continue the game in an atmosphere like this.”

It was announced on twitter by Tancredi Palmeri, that the Pro Patria owner had said, “Those people singing racist chants vs Boateng aren’t part of our ultras. It’s up to authorities to tackle these episodes.”

A very sad event, whilst there is never a place for this you really do not expect to see it happen at a friendly – Unfortunately this is another dark day for Calcio.
