Chelsea sign Ben Chilwell from Leicester City in a £50m transfer

Chelsea’s preparations for the upcoming season have taken a step forward with the capture of left back Ben Chilwell.

The defender has joined from Leicester City in a deal believed to be worth around £50million.

The 23-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the Blues until 2025.

Chilwell is Chelsea’s third addition of the summer following in the footsteps of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.

Chilwell, who made his Leicester debut aged 18 in October 2015, said on Chelsea’s official club website: ‘I am delighted to be joining Chelsea at this very exciting time for the club.

‘I’m looking forward to being a part of this young, dynamic squad led by Frank Lampard as we challenge for honours next season.

‘I can’t wait to get started and hopefully it won’t be long before we’re playing in front of the Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge.’

Chelsea’s business is not yet over with manager Frank Lampard after Malang Sarr, Thiago Silva and Kai Havertz.
