Alexis Sanchez’s nightmare spell at Manchester United is over after he completed a permanent transfer to Inter Milan.

After Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed the news on Wednesday night, the deal was ratified on Thursday – with Sanchez signing a three-year deal at Inter until June 30, 2023.

The 31-year-old joined the Italian giants on a season-long loan in August 2019 and had scored four goals in 29 appearances in all competitions during then.

Inter can expect to have the Chile international for the rest of their Europa League campaign now too after they reached the quarter-finals following their 2-0 win over Getafe on Wednesday night.

Speaking about the deal on Wednesday, Solskjaer said: ‘We have agreed [the deal]. He has enjoyed his time there.

‘He is a top player but for whatever reason we didn’t see the best of him. He is a top professional and we wish him all the best.’

Sancchez joined United in January 2018 in a swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan move to Arsenal.

However, after the fanfare of moving to Old Trafford the forward could only conjour five goals in 45 games for United.

Sanchez becomes the third player to swap United for Inter in the past 12 months, following in the footsteps of Romelu Lukaku and Ashley Young.
