Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic made NBA play-off history when he became the youngest player to to make a 30-point triple-double in a dramatic finish.

The young Slovenian hit a buzzer-beater against the Los Angeles Clippers to give his side a 135-133 win to level the series.

By making history he joins Charles Barkley and Oscar Robertson as the only players to score at least 40 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists in a play-off game.

After the game he said: “I can’t explain the emotions I had when I saw the ball go in, when I saw the whole team coming towards me that was one of the best feelings I have ever had as a player.”

A triple-double is achieved when a player records a double-digit total in three of the following categories: points, total rebounds, assists, steals and blocks.

It was an incredible display by the 21-year-old who also managed to make 17 rebounds and 13 assists despite playing with a sprained ankle.

Doncic made his name playing for Real Madrid before transferring to Dallas Mavericks.

In his first season, he finished the league’s Rookie of the Year and before this campaign was stopped, because of Covid19, he was averaging almost a triple-double of 28.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 8.7 assists. This form has led to some people talking about the possibility of him winning MVP at just aged 21.

It leaves the series tied at 2-2, with game five on Tuesday.
