Manchester City have made their third signing of the summer already, with the capture of Nathan Ake.

Last week City had a £41million bid for the defender accepted by relegated Bournemouth.

And on Wednesday, the deal was ratified with Ake swapping the Vitality Stadium for the Etihad Stadium.

The 25-year-old put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal and can’t wait to work under Guardiola.

‘Pep is a manager admired across the world. What he’s done in the game speaks for itself,’ he said.

‘The success he’s had is unbelievable and the style of football he plays really appeals to me.’

City have paid £40m up front with an additional £1m in add-ons as part of the deal.

Ake had been linked with a move to Manchester City for a while and can also count Manchester United and former club Chelsea among his suitors.

Guardiola is keen to bolster his defence and has identified the centre back as the perfect target with the Dutch international also able to play at left back.

Since joining Bournemouth in 2017, Ake has made 121 appearances for the club.

This season the 25-year-old featured in 29 of Bournemouth’s 38 games in the Premier League. Bournemouth finished 18th.

He follows Pablo Moreno and Ferran Torres in joining City this summer.
