The FA Cup fifth round is now complete with eight teams progressing to the quarter-finals after a thrilling set of matches this week.

Everton defeated Tottenham 5-4 in a brilliant encounter on Wednesday night, in what turned out to be one of the most exciting ties of the tournament so far.

Jose Mourinho’s side went ahead through Davinson Sanchez after just three minutes, until a seven-minute flurry of Everton goals saw them go 3-1 up before halftime.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson all netted for the Toffees who thought they had a comfortable lead going into the break before Erik Lamela popped up in the third minute of added time to make it 3-2.

Sanchez then got his second to make it 3-3, which was followed by Richarlison’s second just ten minutes later, and Everton had thought they had won it until Harry Kane equalised late in the game.

After seven minutes of extra time, Bernard struck the winner to bring an incredible match to a close and to send Carlo Ancelotti’s side through to the next round.

Manchester City also progressed to the quarter finals in comfortable fashion by beating Swansea 3-1.

Goals from Kyle Walker, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus helped City to a record 15th consecutive win in all competitions.

Their local rivals Manchester United advanced less convincingly, needing extra time to beat West Ham 1-0.

A late winner from Scott McTominay sent the Red Devils through, despite the Hammers’ best efforts to stop them.

Leicester also needed a late goal to send them through, with Kelechi Iheanacho netting in the 94th minute to secure the Foxes a 1-0 victory over Brighton.

A 1-0 win also carried Chelsea through, as Tammy Abraham netted the only goal of the game against Barnsley.

There were more goals when Southampton beat Wolves 2-0, with Danny Ings and Stuart Armstrong scoring for the Saints.

Elsewhere, Bournemouth caused an upset when they beat Burnley 2-0 away from home.

Strikes from Sam Surridge and Junior Stanislas sent the Cherries through, despite being without a permanent manager and having Jonathan Woodgate taking temporary charge.

Finally, Sheffield United continued their solid cup run with a 1-0 triumph against Bristol City as Billy Sharpe netted from the penalty spot.

The quarter-final draw took place before the Chelsea match and looks like this:
