Chelsea welcomed fans back into Stamford Bridge, for the first time since March, with an exhilarating 3-1 victory over Leeds.

Goals from Olivier Giroud, Kurt Zouma and Christian Pulisic helped the Blues overturn a one-goal deficit after Patrick Bamford gave Marcelo Bielsa’s side the lead in the fourth minute.

The victory meant that Frank Lampard’s men leapfrogged Tottenham and Liverpool to move top of the Premier League.

The Chelsea manager felt his side’s performance merited all three points: “We dominated the game and fully deserved to win.

“We created so many clear-cut chances, I just wanted the win to be more comfortable.” Explained Lampard.

The hosts fell behind early on when former Blue, Patrick Bamford capitalised on confusion between Kurt Zouma and Edouard Mendy to round the keeper and slot into an empty net.

Somehow Timo Werner failed to equalise, redirecting Giroud’s goal-bound header off the line only to see his strike hit the crossbar.

The Frenchman, did eventually get Chelsea level turning in Reece James’ low cross, to score his fifth goal in two matches.

After the break, Chelsea managed to take a firm grip on the game and asserted their attacking dominance.

Werner was denied a goal again but this time by a magnificent double save from Illan Meslier, before Egzjan Allioski deflected Mason Mount’s rebound over the bar.

Leeds couldn’t keep the Blues out for much longer though, Kurt Zouma rose highest from a corner to head Chelsea into the lead, with his fourth Premier League goal of the season.

Giroud and Werner then had golden opportunities to wrap up the game for the hosts, only for Giroud to head over and Meslier to deny the German again.

With a minute and thirty seconds of four added minutes left to play, Werner turned provider, bursting in behind and squaring the ball to substitute Pulisic, who tapped into the empty net, to secure all three points.
