Champions League semi-final first-leg review: Manchester City come from behind to beat PSG, while Chelsea draw with Real Madrid

Twitter/@ChampionsLeague

There were good results for both English clubs in the semi-finals of the Champions League this week, with Manchester City coming from behind to beat Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea drawing to Real Madrid.

Manchester City win at the Parc des Princes

City came out 2-1 winners after initially being a goal down following an early Marquinhos header.

Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez both scored in the second half to put themselves in the driving seat going into the second leg.

Pep Guardiola’s side are now just one game away from a first-ever Champions League final and have the added advantage of two away goals going into the second leg.

PSG’s Idrissa Gueye will be suspended for the next match too, after being sent off late in the game on Wednesday.

Chelsea also in charge of their Champions League tie

Chelsea also have the slight advantage in their tie following a 1-1 draw with Real Madrid.

American winger Christian Pulisic netted the opener and the all important away goal for the Blues, before Karim Benzema equalised to become the fourth all-time top goalscorer in the competition.

Thomas Tuchel now has the chance to reach a second consecutive Champions League final, having lost out last season to Bayern Munich.

A special mention goes to N’Golo Kante, who dominated against one of the best midfields in world football.

The second legs of both ties will be played next week, with Madrid travelling to Stamford Bridge and PSG visiting the Etihad.
