Just one club remain unbeaten as the seventh weekend of Premier League action comes around, but the table is still tightly contested with no teams yet to break away from the leading pack.
Liverpool are yet to lose in any competition this season and sit top of the league but will have their toughest match of the campaign so far when they face second placed Manchester City on Sunday.
City themselves have only lost once in the league, back on the opening day against Spurs, but did have their confidence knocked during the week when they lost to PSG in the Champions League.
Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea have also suffered defeat just once in domestic competition, being comfortably beaten by City last weekend but still sitting third in the league
Like their title rivals, the Blues lost in Europe on Wednesday against Juventus and will need to react well when they face Southampton on Saturday.
Manchester United face Everton
The remainder of the top four is made up by Manchester United, with just one point separating them and first place.
They take on fifth place Everton in the first match of the weekend, currently above the Toffees on goal difference alone with Rafa Benitez’s team making a great start to the season.
Surprise package Brighton are also level on points with the four sides above them and just one point behind Liverpool, having made their best start to a Premier League season.
The Seagulls can continue their form when they face Arsenal, a fixture that always seems to stir up controversy, although the Gunners have hit form after winning their last three league games in a row.
One of those wins includes an emphatic victory over north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who will look to bounce back against Aston Villa.
Spurs have lost their last three league games in a row and as a result have dropped into the bottom half of the table, behind their opponents this weekend who sit eighth.
Norwich still looking for a win
Elsewhere, winless Norwich take on winless Burnley, with both sides occupying the bottom two places in the league.
It looks set to be another long campaign for the Canaries, who have failed to record a single point since their return to the top flight.
Leeds United are in the remaining spot in the bottom three, also yet to win a league game this season.
Marcelo Bielsa might start to get impatient with his players if they can’t get a positive result against Watford on Saturday.
Only a slightly better goal difference is keeping Newcastle out of the relegation zone, with Steve Bruce’s side failing to win in any competition so far this season.
They travel to Wolves, who have started to find their feet after a slow start under new manager Bruno Lage.
Newly promoted Brentford have made a positive start to their season, as have their opponents this weekend West Ham.
The two go face to face in a London derby om Sunday, with the Hammers having the chance to break back into the top four.
Finally, Crystal Palace and Leicester City take on each other, with both sides coming into the match off the back of draws last weekend.
A win for either team could see them move into the top half of the league.
