The Reds drew 3-3 with Brentford in a dramatic match, with goals from Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones but they were pegged back each time by Ethan Pinnock, Vitaly Janelt and Yoane Wissa.
Despite only managing a draw, Jurgen Klopp’s side still rose to the top of the league and maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign.

Arsenal earn the north London derby bragging rights
The biggest result of the weekend came when Arsenal brushed Spurs aside, winning 3-1 in the latest north London derby.
The Gunners raced into a 3-0 lead through Emile Smith-Rowe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka before Spurs netted a consolation through Hueng-Min Son.
Manchester United suffer a shock defeat
Manchester United fell to a late defeat against Aston Villa, conceding an 88th-minute Kourtney Hause header.
Bruno Fernandes squandered the chance to equalise, missing a penalty in the 93rd minute to hand Villa all three points.
Elsewhere, Brighton snatched a point with the last kick of the game on Monday night to draw 1-1 with rivals Crystal Palace.
Palace went ahead on the stroke of half time when Wilfred Zaha converted from the penalty spot, but a late lob by Neal Maupay ensured the Seagulls came away with a point.
Norwich remain pointless in the Premier League
Newly-promoted Norwich are still yet to record any points in the division, losing 2-0 away to Everton on Saturday.
The Toffees got back to form in dominant fashion, with strikes from Andros Townsend and Abdoulaye Doucoure sealing victory.
Fellow new additions to the league, Watford, fared slightly better against Newcastle where they drew 1-1.
A rocket from Sean Longstaff put Steve Bruce’s side ahead, but a late Ismaila Sarr goal ensured the Magpies still wait for their first league win.
Leeds United are also still awaiting their first win, after West Ham came from behind to beat Marcelo Bielsa’s side 2-1.
Brazilian talisman Raphinha opened the scoring, but an own goal from Junior Firpo was added to in the dying stages by Michail Antonio as the Hammers came away with three points.
Likewise, both Burnley and Southampton are still without a win after their respective matches this weekend.
Southampton were victim to a fine solo strike by Wolves’ Raul Jimenez as they fell to a 1-0 loss against Bruno Lage’s team.
Burnley were ahead twice against Leicester after a Jamie Vardy own goal and first goal from Maxwell Cornet, but two strikes in the right net from Vardy helped the Foxes to an important draw.
