Plenty of dropped points over the Boxing Day weekend saw the Premier League table get even tighter, as the busy festive period nears its end.
Sam Allardyce snatched his first result as West Brom manager against Liverpool, drawing 1-1 at Anfield.
Sadio Mane put the Reds ahead, but a late header from Semi Ajayi – his first Premier League goal – meant the Baggies earned a point.
The draw means Liverpool are still top, currently three points clear of their local rivals Everton.
Manchester United and Leicester both squandered their chance to go second in the table as they drew 2-2.
United were ahead twice, first through Marcus Rashford who scored his 50th Premier League goal, and then through Bruno Fernandes.
Harvey Barnes and Jamie Vardy both scored for Leicester though, as the points were shared between both clubs.
Chelsea also ruined their chance to move into second after their shock 3-1 loss to Arsenal.
Alexandre Lacazette, Granit Xhaka and Bukayo Saka all netted as the Gunners picked up their first league win in nearly two months.
One team who capitalised on all of the dropped points in the top four were Everton, who defeated Sheffield United 1-0 to leapfrog their rivals to second place.
A late strike from Gylfi Sigurdsson meant the Toffees took all three points, leaving their opponents still without a win all season.
Manchester City also won, briefly moving into fifth after beating Newcastle 2-0.
Ilkay Gundogan and Ferran Torres both scored as City cruised to victory against an unthreatening Newcastle side.
Unlike City, Tottenham again dropped points this weekend in a disappointing 1-1 draw against Wolves.
Tanguy Ndombele put the visitors ahead after just one minute, but Romain Saiss equalised in the 86th minute to stop Jose Mourinho’s side from moving back into the top four.
Despite being reduced to 10 men, Aston Villa thrashed Crystal Palace 3-0 to momentarily round off the top six.
Two yellow cards for Tyrone Mings saw him dismissed just before half-time, but goals from Bertrand Traore, Kortney Hause and Anwar El Ghazi ensured Villa got all three points.
Fulham featured in their second consecutive 0-0 draw, this time against Southampton as they continue to pick up points at the bottom of the table.
The stalemate was just their second goalless draw at home in the league in nine years, following their 0-0 encounter with Brighton on December 16.
At the London Stadium, West Ham came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Brighton.
Neal Maupay and Lewis Dunk netted for the Seagulls but equalisers from Ben Johnson and Tomas Soucek meant the game finished level.
Finally, Leeds returned to winning ways as they defeated Burnley 1-0, with Patrick Bamford scoring from the penalty spot for his 10th of the season.
The quick turnaround of games may cause some clubs trouble, with the next round of fixtures beginning on Monday, but for supporters it makes the Premier League season all the more exciting.
