The Premier League resumes this weekend, although some of the division’s biggest hitters will be out of action until the following week as the FA Cup semi-finals also take place.
Manchester City don’t play until Wednesday when they travel to Aston Villa.
A win for Pep Guardiola’s side would put them even closer to a third Premier League title under the Spaniard.
On Sunday, Manchester United have the chance to move within eight points of their rivals with a win over Burnley.
With City playing in the FA Cup, United can keep the pressure on if they pick up all three points against the Clarets.
The race for the remaining top-four spots
Fellow top-four club West Ham also have the chance to get one over on those around them when they face off against Newcastle.
David Moyes’ team currently sit fourth in the table and play before their direct rivals, giving them a slight advantage in the fight to make the Champions League spots.
Another London club, Chelsea, need those above them to slip up if they want to make the top four. The Blues occupy fifth position in the league and welcome Brighton on Tuesday, looking to take advantage of any points that clubs around them might drop.
Leicester don’t play until Thursday where they host West Brom, where Brendan Rodgers’ side will need to be at their best to put themselves back on track.
The Foxes have lost their last two games, while the Baggies have been victorious in their last two matches – scoring eight goals in the process.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are the final club really in the running to make the Champions League spots, and they face Leeds on Monday.
The Reds could only draw against Real Madrid last week and will need to bounce back against Marcelo Bielsa’s men.
On Friday night, Tottenham play their first match of the weekend against Everton in a fixture that could shape the battle for a top-six finish. The sides occupy the two places below Liverpool in sixth, and a win for either club would see them push even closer to the European places.
Spurs play their second match of the week on Wednesday against Southampton, who have won just three league games since the start of 2021.
At the bottom of the Premier League
Elsewhere, Fulham need to win against Arsenal to put their disappointing recent results behind them. Scott Parker’s side have dropped away from Newcastle, now sitting six points from safety.
Finally, Wolves could make it two wins from two if they come out on top against Sheffield United. The Blades losing would confirm their relegation to the Championship if Newcastle were to win against West Ham.
