Premier League January transfer window ratings – Mesut Ozil left Arsenal and Liverpool finally signed centre backs but how did each club fare?

Twitter/@LFC

Monday saw the end of the winter transfer window where clubs were looking to bring in reinforcements or to help give players some extra game time.

Here TIBS News reviews the dealings made by each Premier League club this window, ranking their business too.

ARSENAL
Ins
Omar Rekik – Hertha Berlin
Mat Ryan – Brighton (Loan)
Martin Odegaard – Real Madrid (Loan)

Outs
Sead Kolasinac – Schalke (Loan)
William Saliba – Nice (Loan)

Sokratis – Olympiacos
Mesut Ozil – Fenerbahce
Matt Smith – Charlton (Loan)
Ainsley Maitland -Niles West Brom (Loan)
Joe Willock – Newcastle (Loan)
Shkodran Mustafi- Schalke

A window where Mikel Arteta has had to shift players rather than bring them in due to the finances. As a result, fringe and young players have been allowed to get game time elsewhere. Mesut Ozil leaving would’ve been a benefit to the squad as well as the financial side.

Jurgen Klopp has finally come to his senses by signing a defender. The Premier League champions have had bad luck with injuries in that department which worsened with news on Monday that Joel Matip is now out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury. By signing Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak, the burden should be eased on captain Jordan Henderson and Fabinho who have been playing as makeshift centre backs. We will see in due course though how good these Davies and Kabak are.

Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has admitted to wanting to add players to his injury-hit squad this window but with a lack of money at the club, it has been hard to find players. Instead, it looks like he will have to dip into the club’s youth system. However, on deadline day Hasenhuttl did manage to pull off the loan signing of Takumi Minamino out of nowhere and the Japanese forward should fit in well with his style of play.
