The second week of Premier League action didn’t disappoint, with a number of high quality matches taking place as teams continued to build some early season momentum.

Champions Manchester City back to winning ways

Manchester City put last weekend’s shock defeat by Tottenham behind them with an emphatic 5-0 win over Norwich.

Fans returned to the Etihad to see a Tim Krul own goal, as well as strikes from Jack Grealish, Aymeric Laporte, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez as City recorded their first win of the season.

Chelsea showed why many are tipping them to be the closest challengers to Pep Guardiola’s side, dominating in a 2-0 win over Arsenal.

The Blues went ahead through a goal on his second debut for Romelu Lukaku, which was added to just minutes later by Reece James as they rose to second in the league

They are joined in joint-second by Liverpool, who comfortably dispatched Burnley with a 2-0 victory on Saturday.

Both Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane netted as fans filled out Anfield for the first time in 18 months, with the Reds making it two wins out of two.

West Ham are top of the table

Three other sides managed to maintain their 100 per cent record, with West Ham, Spurs, and Brighton again impressing in their respective games.

The Hammers were brilliant in attack again, beating Leicester 4-1 on Monday night to go top of the league.

Michail Antonio became their record Premier League goal scorer with two strikes on the night to bring his tally to 49, netting after goals from Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma.

Nuno Espirito Santo was victorious against his old club Wolves, with Spurs picking up a 1-0 thanks to Dele Alli scoring from the penalty spot.

For Brighton, goals from Shane Duffy and Neal Maupay sealed all three points in a fairly straightforward 2-0 win over newly-promoted Watford.

Manchester United drop points at Southampton

Elsewhere, Manchester United failed to convert multiple chances as they could only draw 1-1 with Southampton.

A Fred own goal meant the Saints went ahead in the first half, but another Paul Pogba assist for Mason Greenwood saw United equalise.

Leeds managed to record their first point of the season by twice coming from behind to draw 2-2 with Everton.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Demarai Gray scored for the Toffees, but Matheuz Klich and Raphinha twice equalised for Marcel Bielsa’s side.

Aston Villa also notched up their first points of the season, beating Newcastle 2-0 at Villa Park.

An incredible overhead kick from Danny Ings put Villa ahead, with Anwar El Ghazi adding to their lead with a second half penalty.

Finally, newly-promoted Brentford drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace in a close-fought affair.
