Pep Guardiola will extend his stay as Manchester City manager after agreeing to sign a new contract, according to reports.

The Athletic report that the Spaniard has agreed to a one-year contract extension with the option of a second year.

They add that an official announcement on Guardiola’s new deal will happen ‘in the coming days’.

The 53-year-old’s deal at the Premier League champions is due to expire at the end of this season but it seems likely that he will be in the dugout at the Etihad Stadium next term too.

The pending new extension will see Guardiola take his tenure on the blue half of Manchester beyond a decade – in a time which has proven a trophy-laden spell.

Guardiola was appointed City boss in 2016 and has won 18 trophies in charge – including six Premier League titles and their maiden Champions League triumph in 2023.
