Paul Pogba set for Manchester United exit? Arsenal and Tottenham in for Franck Kessie? Potential Premier League transfers in January

With the January transfer window fast approaching, there could be plenty of movement as teams across Europe look to strengthen where needed.

One of the biggest names in football in Paul Pogba looks like he could be on the move. His agent, Mino Raiola insists that the French midfielder is unhappy at Manchester United and wants to move.

He told Tuttosport: ‘Paul is unhappy at Man Utd, he can’t manage to express himself like he wants to and like people expect him to. He needs to change team; he needs a change of scenery.

‘He has a contract that will expire in a year and a half, in the summer of 2022, but the best solution for all parties is a transfer in the next window.’

Whether that means Pogba will leave in January remains to be known. However, the longer United wait to offload Pogba the more money they will miss out on, as he in only contracted until summer 2022.

Another big player who could be on the move is Paulo Dybala. According to multiple reports the Juventus forward, who has been out of favour with new manager Andrea Pirlo, has been offered to both United and their ‘noisy neighbours’ Manchester City.

With the blue half of Manchester looking to replace Sergio Aguero, and the red half looking to strengthen through the middle, both clubs will be relishing the potential rival of the Argentine in January.

With Pogba seemingly wanting to return to Juventus, perhaps throwing him in the deal could give United the edge over City.

Another potential arrival to the Premier League from Italy is AC Milan’s Franck Kessie. The 23-year-old midfielder has caught the eye of both Arsenal and Tottenham and they look set to battle it out for his signature.

Kessie has been a pivotal player in AC Milan’s brilliant start to the season and the Ivory Coast international is contracted until summer 2022.

Brighton’s Yves Bissouma is another player who has caught Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s eye. The ball-carrying midfielder has been a stand-out player for the south coast club, who currently sit in 16th – just two points above the relegation zone.

Arteta is said to be a huge admirer of Bissouma, who is contracted until 2023 – as well as Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp who is also interested in the midfielder.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, who joined Chelsea for a record £71.6 million in 2018, looks set to be offloaded in January after the arrival of Edouard Mendy to the London club.

With Mendy settling in well at Stamford Bridge, and performing brilliantly, it looks increasingly likely that Frank Lampard will let Arrizabalaga go as the January window begins.

Although when asked about the selling of Kepa, Lampard denied that it’s set-in-stone and there is no pressure on the transfer.

He said: ‘There’s no pressure. The pressure is to win games and I have to do the right thing to win games and Mendy has made himself a permanent fixture at this point.’

The 2020 January transfer window saw Premier League clubs spend a total of £230million collectively. With the global pandemic still massively impacting football income it is unlikely to see that figure beaten. However, there is sure to be some big movements as teams look to capitalise on this wildly unpredictable season.
