Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract at Liverpool until the summer of 2027 – in news that will delight everyone connected to the club.
Salah’s future at Anfield had been shrouded in doubt all season with the forward having only had two months remaining on his previous £350,000-per-week deal.
It is reported that the 32-year-old’s new terms have increased to £375,000-per-week.
Salah has been in stunning form for the Reds, having scored 32 goals and provided 22 assists in all competitions this season – including 27 strikes in the Premier League as they seek a record-equalling 20th top-flight title. Arne Slot’s side are 11 points clear of second-placed Arsenal with seven matches left.
He is averaging the most goal involvements per 90 minutes (1.44) in the Premier League this season – the most of any player in a single season.
Mohamed Salah ‘enjoying life’ at Liverpool
Following the news of his new contract, Salah expressed his delight to the club’s official wesbite.
‘Of course I’m very excited. We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.
‘It’s great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it’s going to be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career.
‘I would like to say to [the fans], I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together. Keep supporting us and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully in the future we’re going to win more trophies.’
Salah, who joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017, has won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and FIFA Club World Cup with the Reds.
With Salah’s future secured, focus will turn to Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold who will both be out of contract this summer.
