The FA Cup quarter-finals were played this weekend, with Manchester City, Chelsea, Leicester City and Southampton all earning a spot in the semi-finals at Wembley.

Manchester United and Leicester rounded off the weekend in the toughest match of the draw. The Foxes coming out victorious following a 3-1 win.

Kelechi Iheanacho got on the scoresheet yet again after netting twice to make it nine goals in nine games. He scored either side of Youri Tielemans’ strike.

Young talent Mason Greenwood did initially equalise for United. But, it wasn’t enough as the Red Devils were eliminated from the competition.

City chasing the Quadruple!

Manchester City kept up their hopes of winning a record-breaking quadruple with a 2-0 win over Everton.

They left it late, with quickfire strikes from Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne in the 84th and 90th minutes sealing City’s spot in the next round.

Victory for Pep Guardiola’s side means they are still involved in all four major competitions, already running away with the league, in the Carabao Cup final, a Champions League quarter final and now the FA Cup semi-final.

Fellow top-four club Chelsea also booked their spot at Wembley with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Sheffield United.

Blades midfielder Oliver Norwood turned into his own next after 25 minutes. It was finally added to in the dying moments of the game by Hakim Ziyech.

The loss for Paul Heckingbottom’s side means they have little left to play for this season as they slip closer towards the Championship.

Bournemouth lose to local rivals

Finally, the only remaining EFL club in the tournament in Bournemouth were knocked out by south coast rivals Southampton.

The Cherries were beaten 3-0 at home by the Premier League team, being outdone by a Nathan Redmond brace and a Moussa Djenepo strike.

Following this weekends fixtures, the semi-finals will be played at Wembley the weekend beginning the 17th April.

The fixtures will be Manchester City vs Chelsea and Southampton vs Leicester.
