Premier League preview: Manchester City can win the title against Chelsea, while West Brom must beat Arsenal to avoid relegation

A huge week in the Premier League approaches this weekend, with Manchester City about to be crowned champions and the relegation battle almost decided.

Manchester City can be crowned champions

A win for City over Chelsea will secure a third Premier League title under Pep Guardiola regardless of Manchester United’s result.

Both clubs will play each other in the Champions League final at the end of the month but will meet this weekend in yet another crucial fixture between the two sides.

Elsewhere at the top…

United visit Aston Villa in the hopes that City drop points which will keep them in with a shot of finishing top of the table.

Villa could move back closer towards the top six with a win but need plenty of clubs around them to also drop points.

Third-placed Leicester can move a step closer to Champions League qualification when they play Newcastle United on Friday night.

Alternatively, a Newcastle win would all but confirm their safety, regardless of results elsewhere. If West Brom lose against Arsenal, they will be relegated to the Championship.

Likewise, if Fulham lose their relegation ‘six-pointer’ against Burnley then they will also go down. If the Cottagers were to win, they would be right back in the mix and just six points from survival.

The top-four race

In the top-four picture, West Ham could go level on points with Chelsea if they beat Everton on Sunday.

If the Toffees win, they will move within a point of the top six with a game in hand on those above them.
Spurs and Liverpool are both in action, needing wins to keep their faint top four hopes alive.

The Reds play Southampton, while Ryan Mason’s side travel to Leeds United with both clubs currently on sixth and seventh place, respectively.

Elsewhere, the already relegated Sheffield United host the already safe Crystal Palace, and Brighton can confirm their safety with a win over Wolves.
