The Europa League round of 32 stage is over and we witnessed a host of upsets. It has shaken up the competition as the remaining clubs now look to the round of 16.
Leicester City suffered a shock 2-0 defeat at home to Slavia Prague. The result means that crashed out of the competition after their goalless draw in the first leg.
Lukas Provod and Abdallah Sima netted for the Czech side to send them through to the next stage.
The other British clubs were more successful, all advancing to the round of 16.
Progression for the north London clubs and Manchester United
Arsenal found it toughest! They edged out Benfica in a 3-2 win thanks to goals from Kieran Tierney and two from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Spurs cruised through against Wolfsberger AC, claiming a 4-0 victory over the Austrian side.
Goals from Gareth Bale, a Carlos Vinicius brace and a spectacular Dele Alli overhead kick helped Jose Mourinho’s side into the next round.
A goalless draw for Manchester United was enough for them to see off Real Sociedad. This was thanks to their 4-0 first leg triumph as they advanced to the round of 16.
Another great night for Rangers
Rangers also dominated their tie, winning 5-2 on the night and 9-5 on aggregate against Royal Antwerp.
Alfredo Morelos, Nathan Patterson, Ryan Kent, Borna Barisic and Cedric Itten all scored in a great win for the Scottish side.
There were upsets elsewhere, most notably BSC Young Boys beating Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 away from home.
Strikes from Theoson Siebatcheu and Christian Fassnacht were enough for the Swiss club to go through. The sent Leverkusen crashing out of the competition.
Fellow German side Hoffenheim also suffered a shock exit, losing 2-0 at home to Molde FK, undoing their unbeaten European campaign so far.
Napoli couldn’t overcome their first leg loss, being eliminated from the competition by Granada after losing 3-2 on aggregate.
Despite failing to qualify for the round of 16 they won 2-1 on Thursday nights second leg. This was thanks to goals from Piotr Zielinski and Fabian Ruiz.
Unlike their Italian counterparts, Roma cruised through win a comfortable 3-1 win over Braga.
Goals from Edin Dzeko, Carles Perez and Morja Mayoral were enough to see them into the round of 16.
The other Italian team left in the competition, AC Milan, scraped through on away goals after drawing 1-1 with Red Star Belgrade.
Frank Kessie scored from the penalty spot before El Fardou Ben Nabouhane equalised. But, the two away goals for Milan in the first leg were enough to see them through.
Ajax march on!
Another major European club, Ajax, made it into the round of 16. They beat Lille 2-1 on the night and 4-2 on aggregate.
Davy Klassen and David Neres netted for the Dutch champions as they brushed aside their opponents.
The other Dutch club, PSV, were not as lucky despite winning the second leg 2-1 against Olympiacos.
A strong showing from the Greek in the first leg was enough for them to win 5-4 on aggregate.
Other teams to progress to the next round include Dinamo Zagreb after their triumph against Krasnodar.
Shakhtar Donetsk following victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv, Dynamo Kyiv overcoming Club Brugge and Villarreal knocking out RB Salzburg.
