Only eight matches were played in the Premier League this weekend due to the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, with plenty of big results in the run in to the end of the campaign.

Manchester United failed to take advantage of their game in hand over fellow title challengers Manchester City, drawing 0-0 with local rivals Leeds.

The draw means United are 10 points behind Pep Guardiola’s side – who won their first trophy of the season in the Carabao Cup – and are now just two wins away from their fourth Premier League title under the Spaniard.

There was also a win for third placed Leicester City who came from behind to beat Crystal Palace.

Wilfred Zaha put the London club ahead, but second-half strikes from Timothy Castagne and Kelechi Iheanacho clawed back the win for the Foxes.

Chelsea opened up a gap between themselves in fourth and West Ham in fifth after beating David Moyes’ side 1-0.
Timo Werner netted the only goal of the game to help the Blues to all three points, despite missing an open goal from just six yards out in the second half.

They were also aided by Newcastle who scored in the dying stages of their match against Liverpool to draw 1-1.
Liverpool went ahead through Mohamed Salah, but a 95th-minute equaliser from Joe Willock ensured the points were shared at Anfield and Jurgen Klopp’s team remained in sixth place.

Their Merseyside rivals, Everton, closed the gap between themselves and the top six with a 1-0 win away at Arsenal.
A tale of two goalkeepers saw Bernd Leno score an unfortunate own goal in the second half, while the Toffee’s keeper Jordan Pickford made a fantastic save in the final moments of the match.

Elsewhere, Burnley boosted their survival hopes with an emphatic 4-0 win over Wolves.
A first half hat-trick for Chris Wood followed up by an Ashely Westwood strike saw the Clarets through against a Wolves side who looked ready for the summer holidays.

Brighton weren’t as fortunate, dropping down to 17th spot after losing to the already relegated Sheffield United.

The only goal of the game was bagged by David McGoldrick, as the Blades got their fifth win of the season.

Finally, West Brom’s slim chances of survival took a huge blow when they drew 2-2 to Aston Villa.
Anwar El Ghazi put Villa ahead, before Matheus Pereira and a Tyrone Mings own goal gave the Baggies a deserved lead.

Substitute Keinan Davis netted a 92nd minute equaliser to leave Sam Allardyce’s side nine points from safety with five games remaining.
