Gareth Southgate’s side went through as group winners but they only found out last night that Germany are their next opponents.

Germany came from behind twice to draw with Hungary while Portugal and France also drew.

The result meant Joachim Low’s side finished second with France with winning the group and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal finishing third in the group of death!

So what’s the line-up for the last 16?

Road to Wembley …

If England can overcome the Germans in the their last-16 clash then the draw looks very favourable with a quarter-final against either Sweden or Ukraine in Rome on Saturday 3 July.

The Three Lions could possibly meet Wales in the semi-final at Wembley but the Welsh would have to get past the winners of the Netherlands versus the Czech Republic.

The other side of the draw looks much harder with Italy, Belgium, France and Spain battling it out for a place in the final at Wembley on 11 July.

The current odds to lift the trophy have France as the favourites at 4s, with England and Italy at 6s with Germany at 7s.

So is football coming home? Only time will tell!
