Hakim Ziyech scored for the second time this week as Chelsea cruised to a 3-0 win away at Turf Moor.
Kurt Zouma and Timo Werner both scored their third league goals of the season to complete the scoring.
The result leaves Burnley sitting rock bottom of the table having failed to win any of their opening six matches this season. Whilst, Chelsea moved into the top four prior to the rest of the weekend’s fixtures.
Lampard’s men showed no sign of tiredness having played in Russia in midweek, dominating possession from the beginning.
It took the Blues 26 minutes to find a breakthrough after neat interplay between Werner and Tammy Abraham, with the latter setting up Ziyech for a first-time finish into the bottom corner.
The half-time break did little to alter the pattern of play, and Chelsea doubled their lead soon after as Kurt Zouma powered in a header from Mason Mount’s corner, after poor defending from the Clarets.
Chelsea’s summer signings then combined to create the final goal; Ziyech played Werner in behind and the striker expertly curled the ball past Nick Pope for his second goal in as many matches.
Burnley failed to register a single shot on target in the match helping Chelsea record their fourth consecutive clean sheet and speaking after the game Frank Lampard was delighted to have found the balance between defence and attack.
‘It was a very complete performance from us, we played some really good football and at 1-0 it’s always a danger but we controlled massive parts of the game so I’m very happy.’
Yet the Chelsea manager refused to get carried away with just one good result, ‘Today it was a complete performance yes, but that’s not the end of the story.’
Lampard explained: ‘Having missed pre-season, it was asking a lot of us to fly out the blocks, but game by game when we work, [the results] show we’re doing something positive. So, we need to really get our heads down and keep working now.’
