FA Cup fourth-round preview: Manchester United host rivals Liverpool in standout tie as non-league Chorley hope to upset Wolves

Twitter/@premierleague

Following the third round a fortnight ago, the FA Cup fourth round will begin this weekend as a variety of clubs from different divisions remain in the competition.

National League North club Chorley will welcome Premier League Wolves on Friday night looking to continue their dream run in the cup.

They recently beat a depleted Derby County side, whilst their fourth-round opponents beat Crystal Palace to make it to this stage.

One of the highest profile games of the previous set of fixtures was Crawley’s historic 3-0 win over Leeds.

The League Two side have now been drawn against Bournemouth, with their game being delayed until Tuesday due to a Covid-19 outbreak in the Reds’ squad.

When they do play, it will see manager John Yems return to the south coast for the first time since he was let go as a coach in 2018.

In terms of high-profile ties this round, Manchester United and Liverpool face off again hoping for a more entertaining affair than their league game.

The two teams drew 0-0 last time out, but with a spot in the latter stages of the competition at stake they will both be wanting a different outcome this time around.

Elsewhere, fellow title rivals Manchester City visit League Two Cheltenham.

City have been on a superb run of form stretching all the way back to late 2020 and will be expected to easily overcome their opponents on Saturday.

Leicester play on Sunday, travelling to Brentford on a high following their win in the week against Chelsea.

Their opposition have already played against a big Premier League club this season, narrowly losing out to Tottenham in the League Cup semi-final.

Spurs beat 10th-tier AFC Marine in the last round, and this time out will face off against Wycombe.

Their London rivals Chelsea welcome another club nearby, Luton Town, expecting to advance to the next stage.

Everton also welcome a Championship club, as struggling Sheffield Wednesday travel to Goodison Park in search of something to lift their disastrous season so far.

The Owls are in the relegation zone in the second tier and have been without a manager since Tony Pulis was sacked on December 28.

Two top-flight clubs – Burnley and Fulham – will go head-to-head at Craven Cottage as the two teams look to put a cup run together.

It’s a similar case for Southampton and Arsenal, who play following the Saints’ 2-0 win against Shrewsbury on Wednesday.

There are also trips to Premier League clubs for third-tier sides Plymouth, Blackpool and Doncaster.

Plymouth will travel to Sheffield United, who have just two wins all season, in the hopes that they can replicate their impressive away victory against Sunderland earlier in the week.

For Blackpool, a trip to Brighton will provide them with the chance to capitalise on their penalties win against West Brom in the previous round.

Finally, West Ham welcome Doncaster hoping to continue their brilliant form in 2021 and put together a cup run to go with their top six challenge.

Six Championship sides are also in action, as Swansea face Nottingham Forest, Bristol City travel to Millwall and Barnsley welcome Norwich.
