Europa League quarter-finals review: Arsenal thump Slavia Prague to reach semis as Manchester United also go through

Manchester United and Arsenal are among the clubs who have qualified for the semi-finals of the Europa League following the second legs of the quarter-finals this week.

Tournament favourites United won 2-0 again against Granada, coming out 4-0 victors over the two legs.

Edinson Cavani netted after just six minutes before Jesus Vallejo turned into his own goal in the dying stages of the game to ensure the Red Devils made it to the next round.

There will be a reunion in the semi-finals with Chris Smalling and Henrik Mkhitaryan for United as they are set to face Roma.

Arsenal smash Slavia to reach the final four

Arsenal also came up with the goods when it mattered most, thrashing Slavia Prague 4-0 away from home.

Goals from Nicolas Pepe, Bukayo Saka and an Alexandre Lacazette brace sealed the win for the Gunners, with the whole tie finishing 5-1.

The win means Mikel Arteta’s side become the first club to go and beat Slavia in their own stadium this season and sets them up to play Villarreal in the semi-finals.

Elsewhere in the Europa League

The Spaniards beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-1 in the second leg, with Gerard Moreno and former Borussia Dortmund striker Paco Alcacer netting the goals.

Mislav Orsic scored an away goal for the Croatians, giving them some hope of a fight back, but the tie ended 3-1 on aggregate.

Finally, as previously mentioned Roma also qualified for the semi-finals where they will play United.

A 1-1 draw against Ajax was enough to see them through, with the goals coming from Edin Dzeko and Brian Brobbey.
The Italian side were helped by their strong performance in the first leg, with the tie finishing 3-2 to Paulo Fonseca’s team.

The two semi-finals are set to be played on the April 29 and then the May 6.
