England have learned their fate for their 2026 World Cup qualifying group following Friday’s draw in Zurich, Switzerland.
The Three Lions have been drawn in Group K and will face Serbia, Albania, Latvia and Andorra.
England’s first qualifier will be in March 2025 and will act as Thomas Tuchel’s first as their manager following his appointment in October as they bid to reach the finals in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
What about the rest of the Home Nations?
Scotland, who are looking to reach their first World Cup since 1998, will face Greece, Belarus and the lose of the Portugal versus Denmark Nations League quarter-final.
Elsewhere, Wales will meet familiar foes Belgium, plus North Macedonia, Kazakhstan and Liechtenstein.
Northern Ireland are up against Slovakia, Luxembourg and the winner of the Germany versus Italy Nations League game.
And the Republic of Ireland?
The Republic of Ireland have been draw in Group F against the winner of Portugal versus Denmark Nations League tie, Hungary and Armenia.
How does Uefa’s 2026 World Cup qualifying work?
The games will be played across five international breaks between March and November 2025 (March 21-25), June 6-10, September 4-9, October 9-14 and November 13-18).
In total there are 12 groups – six are made up of four teams with the rest consisting of five. They will play each other home and away as usual. A total of 16 European teams will qualify.
The top team from each of the 12 groups qualifies automatically for the World Cup – with the second-placed teams going into the play-offs with four Nations League teams.
Those 16 play-off teams will be put into pots based on their records in the group and drawn into four paths with one-legged semi-finals and finals.
The play-offs will be on March 26-31, 2026.
