Champions League semi-final review: Manchester City and Chelsea cruise to victories to set up an all-English final

Twitter/@ChampionsLeague

Manchester City made history in their tie against Paris Saint-Germain while Chelsea defeated 13-time winners Real Madrid to ensure that there will be another all-English Champions League final.

Manchester City reach their first-ever Champions League final

City dominated their second leg tie against the Parisians, winning 2-0 on the night and 4-1 on aggregate to reach their first ever European final.

A brace for Riyad Mahrez secured the win for Pep Guardiola’s side, but that was just half the story.

Incredible performances from Phil Foden, Ruben Dias, John Stones and many more all contributed to City’s dominance.

Angel di Maria was sent off for PSG, stamping on Fernandinho for no clear reason as Mauricio Pochettino’s team began to fall apart.

Reckless challenges followed as the game drew to a close, and Guardiola’s team finally reached their first European final.

Chelsea too much for a lacklustre Real Madrid

Chelsea will join them, having beaten Real Madrid 2-0 at Stamford Bridge and 3-1 across the two legs.

Timo Werner got his long awaited goal, followed by a late Mason Mount strike to put the Blues into their first UCL final since 2012.

It will be Thomas Tuchel’s second consecutive final, having lost last time out as PSG manager when they faced Bayern Munich.

With a guaranteed Premier League team winning the competition again, supporters across the country will be eagerly awaiting the final on May 29.
