The second week of the Champions League group stage has arrived, with some of the English clubs involved in fixtures against Europe’s biggest sides.
Blockbuster at the Parc des Princes
Pep Guardiola will reunite with Lionel Messi when his Manchester City team travel to Paris to face PSG in Group A.
The bout sees two of the competition’s favourites go head-to-head, in a repeat of last season’s semi-finals where City came out on top in both legs.
RB Leipzig take on Club Brugge in the other fixture in their group, with the Belgian club actually picking up a point against the Parisians last time out.
Chelsea travel to Juventus
Chelsea face a similarly huge task when they travel to Juventus on Wednesday night, with the Blues looking to continue their efforts to retain the trophy.
Thomas Tuchel’s team got off to a good start last time out, beating Zenit Saint-Petersburg, but had their confidence knocked after losing to City at the weekend.
The Russian side can bounce back when they welcome Malmo FF in the other match in Group H.
Manchester United look to bounce back from shock defeat
Elsewhere, Manchester United face a repeat of their Europa League final from last season when they take on Villarreal.
United were the losing side last time out, being defeated on penalties by the Spanish club.
They also lost their last fixture in the Champions League, facing a shocking defeat to BSC Young Boys who take on Atalanta in the remaining Group F game this Wednesday.
Liverpool face a trip to Portugal
Liverpool travel to FC Porto in Group B, still yet to lose a game in any competition this season.
The Reds are unbeaten, having only dropped points when they faced Chelsea in league action back in August.
Those wins include a comeback victory over AC Milan, who will look to bounce back when they host Atletico Madrid.
Elsewhere in the competition…
Away from the English sides, Barcelona will need to put in a much better showing than they did against Bayern Munich when they visit Benfica.
Ronald Koeman’s team will have the added boost of Ansu Fati, who scored on his return at the weekend after nearly a year out with injury.
For Bayern, they will look to pick up where they left off last time out in the competition against Barcelona when they host Croatian club Dynamo Kyiv in the other Group E match.
Record 13-time champions Real Madrid take on newcomers Sheriff Tiraspol, with the Moldovan side actually top of Group D.
They beat Shakhtar Donetsk last time out, who have the tough task of hosting the current Serie A champions Inter Milan on Tuesday.
In Group C, Borussia Dortmund take on Sporting Lisbon in the hopes of building on their opening round win over Besiktas.
The Turkish side lost 2-1 to Dortmund and will need to perform far better when they travel to Ajax in the other fixture – who thrashed Lisbon 5-1 last time out.
Finally, RB Salzburg face Lille in Group G, while Wolfsberg host Sevilla in the other group match with all four sides currently on one point.
