The Champions League is back for its third round of group-stage fixtures, with some of Europe’s biggest clubs needing to pick up better results.

Manchester City travel to Belgium

Of the four English sides in the competition, only two of them are in qualifying positions in their respective groups.

Manchester City are currently third in Group A and will face second placed team Club Brugge on Tuesday.

The other group fixture sees Paris Saint-Germain take on RB Leipzig, with the bottom-placed German side still looking for their first points of the European season.

Out-of-sorts Manchester United host Atalanta

In Group F, Manchester United also sit in third place after their poor start.

They take on first-placed Atalanta on Wednesday, with the chance to go top of the group if they win, but they will need a bigger improvement on their recent performances to do so.

Second-placed Young Boys take on current Europa League holders Villarreal in the other match in the group.

Liverpool travel to high-flying Atletico Madrid

Liverpool have fared much better, winning both of their games so far in Group B, fending off both AC Milan and Porto.

Their toughest test comes on Tuesday, when they travel to LaLiga champions Atletico Madrid and welcome back club legend Luis Suarez.

The previously mentioned Milan and Porto go head-to-head in the other tie, with both sides looking to take advantage of any dropped points by the other two clubs in the group.

Chelsea welcome Malmo

Finally, Chelsea sit second in Group H following their loss to Juventus last time out.

The Blues will face Malmo on Wednesday night, while the currently unbeaten Juventus will go head-to-head with third placed Zenit St. Petersburg.

Elsewhere in Europe…

Elsewhere, Barcelona have made their worst ever start to a European campaign, currently sitting bottom of Group E on zero points.

They face Dynamo Kiev this week, needing to pick up a win in order to ease the pressure that is mounting on them.

Top of that group is Bayern Munich, who have been dominant so far and will look to continue their form against second-placed Benfica.

In Group D, surprise package Sheriff Tiraspol have won two out of two games and top the group before their next match against Inter Milan.

That includes a win over 13-time champions Real Madrid, who are in action against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Ajax take on Borussia Dortmund in Group C, with both sides currently boasting 100% records in this season’s group stages.

They both have wins against the remaining two teams in the group, Besiktas and Sporting Lisbon, who face off in the other fixture.

Finally, RB Salzberg take on Wolfsburg in Group G, with the Austrian club currently top of the group.

The Germans find themselves in third but could go top with a win, depending on second placed Sevilla’s result against Lille.
