The Champions League is back following a three-month break and numerous qualifying rounds, with Europe’s elite clubs in action on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Four English clubs feature in this year’s competition, those being both Manchester sides as well as Liverpool and current champions Chelsea.
Defending champions Chelsea begin at home
Last season’s winners are in action against Zenit St Petersburg in Group H on Tuesday night, looking to pick up where they left off last time out in Europe.
The other Group H encounter sees Juventus travel to Malmo, hoping to put their shocking domestic form behind them and produce a strong showing against the Allsvenskan champions.
Manchester United travel to Switzerland
Manchester United are also in action on Tuesday night, travelling to Young Boys as they begin their European challenge.
United were disappointing last season, dropping out in the group stages before losing in the Europa League final to Villarreal.
As luck would have it, they have been drawn in Group F with Villarreal, with the Spanish club playing against Italian side Atalanta.
Manchester City entertain RB Leipzig
On Wednesday, Manchester City welcome RB Leipzig as Pep Guardiola again looks to win the one trophy that has evaded him for the last decade.
City came as close as possible last season, losing in the final to Chelsea, but are among the favourites again this time round.
The other strong favourites to win the whole tournament are Paris Saint-Germain, who were drawn in Group A with City and get their campaign underway against Club Brugge.
The Parisians have assembled one of the best squads in football history, boasting world class players like Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Neymar and wonderkid Kylian Mbappe.
Liverpool face a familiar final foe to start their campaign
Liverpool are the final English side to play, welcoming Italian giants AC Milan in Group B.
Fans will be hoping for an affair as entertaining as the famous 3-3 draw between the two sides in Istanbul some 16 years ago.
LaLiga champions Atletico Madrid take on Porto in the other match in the group.
Away from the Premier League quartet…
Away from the English sides, the biggest game of the week sees Barcelona face Bayern Munich in a repeat of their dramatic 8-2 quarter-final win from the 2019-20 season.
The two sides come face-to-face again, in what will be Barcelona’s first European tournament without Messi in nearly 20 years.
Both clubs are expected to advance from Group E with the other two teams, Dynamo Kyiv and Benfica, needing something special to overcome the two European powerhouses.
Thirteen-time Champions Real Madrid play in Group D, travelling to Serie A champions Inter Milan looking to win the competition for the first time since 2018.
The other Group D fixture involves Shakhtar Donetsk, who visit Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol.
Elsewhere, Sevilla take on Red Bull Salzburg in Group G looking to reach the last-16 stage for the second-consecutive season.
Lille host Wolfsburg in the remaining Group G fixture with both clubs having a good chance of progressing out of an evenly-balanced group.
Finally, Erling Haaland will be given the chance to shine once again in European competition when Borussia Dortmund play Besiktas.
The German team are favourites to top Group C ahead of Besiktas, as well as the other two sides Sporting Lisbon and Ajax.
