The second set of Champions League last-16 fixtures are being played this week, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid all featuring.

Chelsea have the tough task of beating Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night, with the Blues currently fifth in the Premier League while their opponents are top of La Liga having lost just two league matches all season.

Thomas Tuchel will take charge of his first European game for the London club, hoping to come away with a respectable first leg result against tough opponents.

They topped Group E without losing a single game though, whereas Atletico scraped through in the final round of group stage fixtures with a win over RB Salzburg.

Manchester City have a slightly easier tie on Wednesday evening, being drawn against German side Borussia Monchengladbach.

City have won 18 consecutive games and don’t look like stalling anytime soon, although Gladbach have picked up impressive wins against Real Madrid and Inter Milan already in the competition.

Madrid topped Group B over Gladbach by just two points and have been rewarded with a round of 16 tie against Italian club Atalanta.

The Spaniards have won the competition a record 13 times but have just 11 outfield players available for their match on Wednesday.

Key players such as Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema, Marcelo, Eden Hazard, Dani Carvajal and Federico Valverde are all expected to miss out through injury, giving Atalanta a real chance at an upset.

Finally, reigning champions Bayern Munich will travel to Lazio looking to prove why they are amongst the favourites to win the tournament again this time round.

The Germans cruised through Group A without losing a game and drawing only once to Atletico, while Lazio made it through after their 2-2 draw with Club Brugge in the last round of group stage fixtures.

It will be a tough game for the Italian team, although Bayern’s loss last weekend to Eintracht Frankfurt and recent draw against Arminia Bielefeld will give them hope that they can pick up a positive result.
