Bayer Leverkusen have signed talented Czech international Adam Hlozek from Sparta Prague in a deal believed to be worth £11.1million.

The 19-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga club in a move that will see him link up with compatriot Patrik Schick at club level.

Hlozek made his debut for Sparta Prague back in November 2018, aged 16, and went on to make 132 appearances for the Czech club, scoring 40 times.

He was part of the Sparta side that won the MOL Cup in 2020, helping them to a 2-1 win over Slovan Liberec in the final.

He finished joint top scorer in the Czech Fortuna Liga in 2020-21 with 15 goals, despite missing over three months of the campaign due to an injury.

Adam Hlozek excited for his new chapter

The young star was thrilled to complete his move to Germany and he believes that he is joining one of the biggest clubs in the Bundesliga.

‘It’s great for me to have been signed by one of the best clubs in the Bundesliga.

‘I’ve regularly watched Bayer 04 Leverkusen over the past few weeks, the team plays wonderful football.

‘Being part of this team fills me with great hope and expectations.’

Leverkusen’s sporting director Simon Rolfes was delighted to add Hlozek to the squad, as the team looks to push on after finishing third in the Bundesliga in 2021-22.

‘Adam is a player who can create a real goal threat as a second striker from a central position or coming in from the wings.

‘His versatility, his power and, above all, his finishing will give our attack more variation.’
