Premier League review week 26: Raheem Sterling scores a hat-trick in Manchester City win, as Wolves win at Tottenham

Despite no teams in the league having actually played 26 games, the 26th round of Premier League fixtures has been completed and didn’t disappoint in our latest review.

Raheem Sterling is Manchester City’s hat-trick hero

Manchester City breezed past Norwich City with a 4-0 win away from home to maintain their lead at the top of the table.

Raheem Sterling bagged himself a perfect hat-trick, which was added to by the brilliant Phil Foden as City ran riot once again.

Second placed Liverpool managed to keep up with their title rivals thanks to a Fabinho goal against Burnley.

The Reds won 1-0 at Turf Moor, despite not being at their best for much of the game.

Mixed results for Manchester United

Manchester United moved into the top four after playing two games over four days, first drawing 1-1 to Southampton and then beating Brighton 2-0.

United struggled against the Saints, with Che Adams’ strike cancelling out Jadon Sancho’s opener, but goals from

Portuguese duo Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo were enough to see off the Seagulls in their second game of the week.

West Ham remain in fifth and in the hunt for a Champions League spot after drawing 2-2 with Leicester City.

Despite taking the lead through Jarrod Bowen, the Hammers needed a late equaliser from Craig Dawson so ensure they got anything from the match, after Foxes goals from Youri Tielemans and Ricardo Pereira.

Wolves record another big away win

There was a huge win for Wolves in their hunt for European football, beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0.

Early strikes from Raul Jimenez and Laender Dendoncker were enough for Bruno Lage’s side, who moved into seventh place with the win.

Down at the bottom

Elsewhere, Newcastle picked up an invaluable three points in their bid for survival, beating Aston Villa 1-0 at St. James’ Park.

Kieran Trippier scored the only goal of the game with a deflected free-kick from the edge of the area but went off injured later in the game.

Watford weren’t as fortunate, crumbling to a 2-0 defeat against Brighton, who also played two games this week.

Goals from Neal Maupay and Adam Webster helped the Seagulls to overcome the Hornets.

A 3-0 victory for Everton eased their fears of slipping into a relegation battle, beating fellow strugglers Leeds at Goodison Park.

Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane and Anthony Gordon all netted as Frank Lampard earned his first Premier League win in charge of the Toffees.

Finally, Brentford and Crystal Palace drew 0-0 in an uneventful London derby.

Neither Chelsea or Arsenal featured in league action last weekend.
