There were some shocking results in the Premier League this weekend, with both Liverpool and Manchester City dropping points and Tottenham Hotspur losing to Manchester United.
City were beaten 2-0 by Crystal Palace after going down to ten men and having a goal disallowed.
Wilfred Zaha scored his 50th topflight goal for Palace which was added to by Conor Gallagher, with Aymeric Laporte being sent off for City and Gabriel Jesus having his goal ruled out.
Liverpool fared slightly better, but still only managed a 2-2 draw against Brighton at Anfield, squandering a two goal lead.
Reds captain Jordan Henderson netted alongside Sadio Mane, before Enock Mwepu and Leandro Trossard scored for the Seagulls.
The result with the biggest implications this weekend was undoubtedly Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Spurs, which ended with Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo being sacked.
Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Edison Cavani and Marcus Rashford consigned Nuno’s side to defeat, with the Portuguese coach losing his job the next day, being replaced by Antonio Conte.
Chelsea managed to win again while those below them struggled, beating Newcastle 3-0 to go three points clear at the top of the league.
A Reece James brace was added to by Jorginho from the penalty spot, leaving the Magpies still looking for their first win of the season.
There was also a win for Arsenal, who comfortably beat Leicester City 2-0 at the King Power Stadium.
Early goals from Gabriel and Emile Smith Rowe helped the Gunners to victory, making it seven league games unbeaten under Mikel Arteta.
West Ham also maintained their strong form, beating Aston Villa 4-1 away from home.
Ben Johnson, Declan Rice, Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen all netted as the Hammers held on to fourth place, moving level on points with City.
Elsewhere, Wolves saw their rise up the table continue after a 2-1 win over Everton.
Quickfire goals from Max Kilman and Raul Jimenez were enough for Bruno Lage’s side to win, despite Alex Iwobi’s second half strike.
Burnley picked up their first win of the season, comfortably beating Brentford 3-1 at Turf Moor.
First half goals from Chris Wood, Matthew Lowton and Maxwell Cornet were enough for Sean Dyche’s team.
There were also second league wins this season for Southampton and Leeds United, who beat Watford and Norwich respectively.
Southampton beat Watford 1-0 thanks to a fine strike from Che Adams, while Leeds won against Norwich after goals from Raphinha and Rodrigo.
