Alexander Albon and Liam Lawson have been confirmed for the 2021 DTM series

Alexander Albon to race in select DTM races alongside his F1 reserve role with Red Bull Racing in 2021.

Albon will contest in select Deutsche Tourewagen Masters (DTM) races alongside his role as reserve driver for Formula One’s Red Bull Racing in 2021.

The 24-year-old was dropped to a reserve driver at the end of the Formula One season for Sergio Perez after a challenging first full-season with the Red Bull Team.

Today it has been announced that Albon will contest in DTM events that do not clash with his Formula One involvements as both test and simulator driver.

The Thai driver will be joined on the grid by a fellow Red Bull Racing junior driver in Liam Lawson who will also race in the DTM series in 2021.

The 18-year-old is held highly in the regards of Red Bull Racing after previously winning the 2019 Toyota Racing Series championship.

Last year he finished fifth in FIA Formula Three and will be looking to make the step up to FIA Formula 2 come March, likely enough for the Kiwi the two championships do not overlap.

Lawson will partner Albon for the duration of the DTM series that kicks off on the 28th of May in Russia.
