Top Ten: Bad attitudes in English football

Bellamy

Following the Capital One Cup semi-final clash, between Swansea City and Chelsea, Eden Hazard could arguably be put on this list, along with his ball boy friend, but it is already well populated. Joey Barton has also escaped the clutches of this list by moving to Marseille. He would have felt right at home nestled between El Hadji Diouf and Adel Taarabt!

So below is the list of the top 10 TIBS terrors within English football!

10/. Daniel ‘Itchy Feet’ Sturridge

Liverpool manager Brendan Rogers has come out and said he has no concerns with Mr Sturridge’s attitude and believes that his move to Liverpool can be beneficial to both the club and player. The forward is now at his fourth club at the age of just 23, which has raised a few concerns regarding his personality. The player left Manchester City in 2009, heading for Chelsea, from there he then enjoyed a successful loan spell at Bolton scoring eight goals in 11 games. On his return to Chelsea he failed to consistently get into the starting eleven and has moved to Liverpool during this transfer window.

9/. Jermaine ‘Not Today’ Beckford

The ex-Leeds United striker has repeatedly shown his worse side to his game. Though at Leeds Mr Beckford was in the goals, his work rate and attitude leaves so much to be desired. He was asked at one point to find a new club by Leicester City due to his lazy nature and spent a month at West Yorkshire’s Huddersfield Town recently.

8/. Marouane ’Red Mist’ Fellaini

The big haired Everton star has showed the public, on a few occasions, that he is a cracker waiting to be pulled. In 2012 Mr Fellaini got himself into hot water when he headbutted Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross. For all the talent that this kid possesses, his forehead, elbows and just about any other body part can occasionally come into play.

7/. Craig ‘PGA’ Bellamy

Mr Bellamy here has never been convicted of assault but he has had many runnings with the courts to clear his name, having been allegedly involved in numerous violent events. One that is lodged in the memory is his golf club escapade, confronting then team-mate John Arne Riise while at Liverpool. While on the pitch Bellamy is a man who likes to be heard and will voice his opinion – be it useful or not.

6/. Emmanuel ‘Cash and Carry’ Adebayor

In the summer of 2009 Mr Adebayor left Arsenal for Manchester City in a lucrative deal and made an impact at the club. When scoring against his former club, he ran to their fans and celebrated in front of them – for which he picked up a lot of criticism. In January 2011 the striker headed out on loan to Spanish giants Real Madrid after City captured an influx of talent and Adebayor was not part of manager Roberto Mancini’s plans. Upon returning from Spain, the Togolese forward expressed his unhappiness at having to train with the reserves at City and in August of the same year he was loaned out to Tottenham Hotspur for a year and later signed a deal to keep him at the club. Money was the map for Adebayor not the love of clubs.

5/. Adel ‘Paddy’ Taarabt

Mr Taarabt threw a wobbler following being substituted at half-time in October 2011 by Neil Warnock when he was in charge of Queens Park Rangers. Warnock claimed Taarabt was lacking in effort and the resulting argument between player and manager sparked walkout rumours while the player was benched for a period. The player has undoubted talent but just needs to keep a lid on his unpredictable temper.

4/. El Hadji ‘Saliva’ Diouf

Mr Diouf has infuriated probably half the population of Britain in total. He taunted at QPR’s Jamie Mackie as he lay injured with a broken leg. He has spat at infuriated Celtic fans, a young Middlesbrough fan, in the face of then Portsmouth player Arjan de Zeeuw and allegedly at West Ham fans. Not to mention he has driven without a license and been in numerous scrapes in the past.

3/. Mario ‘BANG’ Balotelli

Mr Balotelli has a little bit of everything in his personality, he is the self-appointed joker of the Manchester City squad, but for all his humour and pranks there is a darker side of Mario that occasionally surfaces. City manager Roberto Mancini has on numerous occasions had to speak to the Italian forward, on issues that vary from yawning during his team talk, to bust ups with City players to throwing a dart at a City youth player. And who can forget the fireworks, the cash in the car, the women’s prison and the college toilet break. This man is definitely not one for the quiet life.

2/. Carlos ‘I shall not be moved’ Tevez

Mr Tevez has claimed to be missing Argentina and his family for a long time now but has finally said he feels settled in Manchester. After reportedly refusing to take to the field from the bench in September 2011, during a UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern Munich, the City striker stirred up a storm of grief from former players and fans alike as he disgusted them with his paddy.

1/. Wayne ‘I’ve spat my dummy out’ Rooney

One phrase that cannot describe the Manchester United frontman is a ‘role model’. Kids if you are reading this don’t become like Mr Rooney. His footballing talent is often marred by his temper and lack of discipline. The club has stood up for the player on various occasions, but the patience of Manchester United is beginning to wear thin at times. The fact that in the past his form, fitness, attitude and behaviour have been questioned just shows the problems that Rooney falls into. Rooney is the first ranked in this list as having the worst attitude in English football because despite not being consistently bad, when he has a bad day there is no one worse.
